The Elections Division works to ensure fair elections and facilitates statewide voter registration in accordance with state laws. By educating local officials and voters, the division plays a crucial role in keeping Georgia's elections fair and free from fraud. The Elections Division is divided into the following areas:
The Elections Section is responsible for the qualification of candidates for certain offices, the preparation of ballots and election forms and materials, the processing and certification of election results, and responding to requests for information on election laws and procedures. The Voter Registration Section is responsible for the processing and transmittal to the counties of voter registration cards received by the Elections Division through implementation of the National Voter Registration Act ("Motor Voter"). This section is also responsible for maintaining an accurate accounting of the number of registered voters in Georgia.
