to the Georgia State Capitol - the
working center of Georgia�s government
and the proud home of its citizens.
Newly restored and listed on the
National
Park Service's National Register of Historic Places, the completely
refurbished �House of the
People� is a gleaming example of 19th century design and 21st century technology. We are very
proud of our new home and hope you will share the same enthusiasm upon your
visit. The
Georgia State Capitol is open to the public 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday
through Friday and is closed on weekends and holidays. Guided tours are
available Monday through Friday at 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 2:00
p.m. (April through December) and 9:30
a.m., 10:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. while
the Georgia Legislature is in session (January through March). During the
academic year, most scheduled group tours begin at the Capitol Education
Center with a viewing of The
Georgia State Capitol: A Symbol of the New South.
The tour then moves to the State Capitol for a brief overview of Capitol
history and the lawmaking process; a visit to the public galleries of the House
of Representatives and Senate; and concludes with a visit to the Georgia Capitol
Museum. Visitors are also encouraged to
visit the "Hall of Valor," which houses Georgia�s priceless collection
of historic flags. You are welcome to schedule a

Walk-in visitors are also welcome. The
Capitol is located in downtown Atlanta at the intersection of I-20 and I-75/85, near
Underground
Atlanta, The World of Coca-Cola and
the Five Points and Georgia State MARTA stations.
